About ESAC
ESAC (Educational Services Accessibility Committee) is the Official accessibility assistance program that supports any STARFLEET member taking courses within SFA (STARFLEET Fandom Academy) and the MTC (Marine Training Center). ESAC has supported these established Academy Campuses for nearly five (5) years.
This assistance can be as little as answering questions or as large as working on issues that take months to resolve. Our support encompasses many different areas including supporting our disabled members taking courses within either Campus. Here are but a few key areas that our dedicated support team is qualified to assist with:
- Accessibility – Being sure members receive the accessibility assistance needed while taking courses within either Campus. This includes navigating course manuals and exams, whether they’re online QAM exams in Moodle or the downloadable Alternate Exam’s (PDF’s). We’re here for you!
- We can advocate on your behalf – When necessary, ESAC can assist as your advocate and work with the College Director’s and Institute Dean’s to ensure smooth communication and problem resolution. We also assist Chapter CO’s in taking exams necessary to retain their position, as well as, providing guidance and instructions on how to support their crew members participating in academic studies.
- ESAC also teachs Director’s, Dean’s and their assistant’s how to convert their existing exams into more accessibly-friendly versions. CO’s can also benefit from this as well, by learning simple ways to convert their ship’s documentation into more accessibility-friendly versions.
- Using recognized accessibility guidelines and techniques, documents are converted into a more accessibly-friendly version as an alternate method that will allow members needing a different format the ability of use.
In this way, ESAC supports Gene Roddenberry’s dream of IDIC (Infinite Diversity in Infinite Combinations), where all persons are able to prosper and enjoy all that the STARFLEET Educational Services has to offer.
